Beach day trips from London
This a variety list of beach destinations from London along the south coast and in Kent. Whether you’re looking for pebbles or sand, great seafood or pleasure piers. There will be something you’ll love.
Some of these places are great to visit by train whilst others are better reachable by car. Whichever way you choose to travel, I hope you will enjoy visiting these places as much I have.
1. Beach Day Trip to Seven Sisters
Seven Sisters is remote and can either be reached by car or by bus from Brighton. It is a beautiful nature area. A pebbled beach and cliffs that stretches along the English coast as far as you can look.
Near the beach is a car park with a public toilet in case you have your urgency. The area is a good starting point to walk over the cliffs or visit nearby Seaford.
2. Beach Day Trip to Brighton
Maybe I should have started my list with Brighton. After all it is the quintessential destination.
Down on the south coast of East Sussex, Brighton has everything that I love about a seaside town. From wide beaches with colourful chairs, a great town centre and easily reachable by public transport from London. Brighton has it all.
Add to that great seafood, especially at The Regency, fun shops, old shopping lanes and the Pavilion. Brighton has it all.
3. Beach Day Trip to Whitstable
It is small, tiny and lovely. You don’t need a lot to make a lovely beach town. It is easily reachable by high speed train from London which make it great to visit as well.
There are great shellfish and other seafood places right at the shore. If you have the chance it even has its own Oyster Festival every summer!
The beach is an ideal place to indulge some seaside fun and the high street is lined up with some cute small independent stores and delicious places to eat.
4. Beach Day Trip to Camber Sands
Camber Sands, an East Sussex Beach, probably the best beach type of beach on this list. One of the few places near London where you can visit some sand dunes and a sand beach as well.
With its lovely dogs, scenic dunes and nearby seafood shops it is an ideal place to spend a warm day in England.
To visit Camber Sands from London you either drive to one of the car parks near the beach or you take the train to Rye. A lovely small town near Camber Sands, where you either take a bus or have a great nature walk to the beach.
5. A Beach Day Trip to Jurassic Coast
Old historic, you can even find fossils if you are lucky but it also offers you some great sand beaches. The Jurassic Coast that begins in Exmouth and ends all the way at East Devon, 95 miles of beauty.
The best place to visit is probably the area around Durdle Door. It offers everything from great coastal views, old jurassic limestone constructions created by mother nature and sand beaches to have some fun on some warm English weather. It offers you everything from relaxing, to great coastal walks.
Be aware that this is also the only place on the list that is not reachable by public transport from London. But there are great local guides providing you a 3 day tour from London.
