As we wait for the pandemic to ease and for many places to ease lockdown, it can get us thinking about travel and the next destinations that we want to go to. Having a few ideas in place can mean that when you have the all clear to travel, you can book the next flight out. But where have you got on your list for when you feel ready to travel, and when it is safe to do so? Here are some suggestions of places to go and of things to see. But of course, check with the foreign office before you go ahead and book something.
The Maldives
If you are looking for a little bit of luxury when you can next head off on your trip, then you can’t get much better than The Maldives. Playground for the rich and famous, it is a stunning place to visit, with idyllic picture-perfect scenes. Although relaxation and good food is the order of the day, there are a lot of great watersports to enjoy, as well as boat trips, diving, and snorkeling. If you want to treat yourself after lockdown, then this needs to be on your list.
India
For something a little different, you could head to India. It is a country that will really welcome the tourism, and there are great opportunities to volunteer in India too. If you want to give back, do some good in a local area, and experience the great food and the great weather, then India is a place like no other. There are a variety of things to do there too, from hikes, and walks, to city travels and beaches.
Jamaica
The new James Bond film was filmed in Jamaica, so why not experience a little bit of it yourself? Some of the locations that were used for filming were Port Antonio on the north area of the island. However, some of the best parts of the island to enjoy are the Blue Mountains, some Rio Grande rafting and the famous Floyd’s Pelican Bar. The beaches are amazing, and the music scene is rife.
Zermatt, Switzerland
If you are thinking more about next year, then you could get planning a ski trip. The ski season was cut short this year because of the health crisis, so there will be many skiers and snowboarders keen to get back onto the slopes. Zermatt in Switzerland is one of the best resorts to head to, being car-free and offering some amazing skiing in the highs of the Alps. OIt is known for a great apres-ski scene too, so it is a great shout if you missed your time on the slopes this year.
Cotswolds, UK
If you don’t feel up to flying, and many won’t for some time, then why not experience what there is to experience right here in the UK. The Cotswolds is really pretty, with a variety of things to see and do. Think of long walks, country pubs, riverside boating, and much more. Just on the outskirts of the Cotswolds, you can visit Castle Combe which has been a filming location of movies like War Horse and Stardust.
