When we think of holidays and breaks, we tend to think of going overseas to a holiday resort. We think of all inclusive accommodation. We think of drinks and snacks around the pool. We think of the occasional trip to the beach and dip in the sea. But 2020 has thrown these types of plans out of the window for many of us. The coronavirus and Covid-19 pandemic has significantly limited travel and many of us want to stay closer to home in a bid to slow the spread of the virus. So, what can you do instead of your usual beach break? Well, there are a couple of options that you might want to take into consideration! Here are a couple!
Camping
One option that you might want to take into consideration is camping. As long as you know what you’re doing, camping allows you to be pretty self-sufficient and you can generally camp with minimal engagement with others. Even on campsites with other campers, you can simply ensure that you pitch your tent two metres away from anyone else’s space. Plus, camping provides you with an enjoyable alternative to the standard holiday. This is a getaway where you can really get in touch with nature. It’s not often you get to sleep beneath the stars. To minimise contact with others, make sure to fill your tank as much as possible to minimise service station stops and consider using a camper or motorhome so you don’t have to stay at hotels. Again, there are basic road trip safety tips you should follow. These include not picking up hitchhikers, having jump leads and other equipment in case of breakdowns and always having a spare tyre on board.
