Officially called the Republic of Macedonia. In the past it was part of Yugoslavia. The country is landlocked and the warmest regions of Macedonia can easily exceed the 40 degrees Celcius during July and August. Tourism is an important part of the economy and Macedonia receives around 700,000 tourists annualy.
