Hopefully, lockdown will be easing soon, and that means that we can start going out again. Travel abroad won’t be back for a little while, but it’s still fun to dream about, which is why we think you should be getting your travel plan ready. Just because you can’t go right now, doesn’t mean that you won’t ever be able to, and if you start planning now, there’s going to be no need to wait forever once you can finally travel again. So, how do you make a travel plan, and what do you need to include? Keep reading down below, and you’ll find out!
Where Do You Want To Go?
The first thing that you’re going to have to consider is where you want to go. There are so many places in the world, and it’s always good to have an idea of what your destination is going to be. If you’re not entirely sure where you want to head off to just yet, then there are always ways to do it at random. First, you can get a globe, close your eyes, spin it, and then see where your finger lands. This is only going to work if you’re willing to go to most places in the world, otherwise, you could just be spinning the globe forever.
If you have a few ideas, but you’re not sure which you want to go for just yet, then we suggest you make a list. Write down the names of the places you want to go, write the reasons for it and then make a pro/con list of each. By doing this, you will be able to work out, which is actually more appealing to you, and which you just think sound cool because everyone else is going there.
When Do You Want To Go?
The next thing that you’re going to think about is when you want to go. Obviously, right now isn’t an option, and neither are the next few months, so you might be best off planning this trip for next year at the earliest. At least this way, there is a higher chance of you being able to go. Remember, seeing as you aren’t booking any flights or anything, there is no need for you to stick to the exact dates that you plan. There is always some wiggle room that you can use if necessary, so you don’t have to panic if it gets to a point where you don’t think you’re going to be able to go.
Think about the location you have chosen and then research the best time to visit. There might be some cool events that you could take part in while you’re there, and it depends on what type of weather you’re looking for as to when you should try and go. Remember that not all countries have the same weather patterns, and what is winter for us isn’t going to be so cold for them.
What’s Your Budget?
You should also think about how much money you’re going to be willing to spend on this trip. This will be able to give you a good idea of where you can afford to go, but also what you’re going to be able to afford while you’re there. If you set yourself a budget, you will know how much you have to spend on activities and so on after you have booked the flights, accommodation and so on.
Once you’ve set the budget, it’s important that you stick to it. You don’t want to be in a foreign country, with no money and no way to get any more. We suggest that once you know how much you’re going to have, you split it evenly throughout the days that you are there. If you have any left at the end of the day, you can roll it over to the next so that you have some extra. If you keep doing this, you know that you aren’t going to run out of money and you can enjoy yourself without the worry.
Is Anyone Going With You?
Another thing that you should consider is whether you’re going alone or if anyone is going with you. If you want to go on a group trip, you’ve got to discuss all the details with everyone involved, rather than just booking whatever you want. Sometimes group trips are more fun as you get to spend this time with the people that you care about, but other times going on your own is going to be more of an adventure. It’s up to you what you want to do here, but remember that if you’re going to be exploring with others, you’ve got to take into account their wants as well.
As such, you’ve got to discuss the where, when, and budget with them. You can’t make any decision until everyone has agreed, so it’s important to keep that in mind.
Write A Packing Checklist
Don’t forget that you should also be writing a packing checklist so that when the time comes around, you’re not going to be running around, panicking because you don’t know if you have everything. By using a checklist, you will be able to tick items off as you pack them, so you can be sure you’re not missing anything. On the list, you should make sure you have suitable clothing, shoes, something like Phenergan tablets if you need them, your passport, any documents that you might need for the border, and so on.
As well as these essentials, you’re going to want things like sunglasses and sunscreen if you’re going somewhere hot. Really, if you think you’re going to need it on your holiday, make sure it goes on the list so that you don’t forget it.
Activities You Want To Do
Something that you should also consider is coming up with a list of things that you’re going to want to do when you get to the destination. You can only do this once you’ve decided for definite where you’re going, and we suggest you do research on the destination to aid you in any way. This is because you might not know everything that there is to offer, and there could be some cool things that you wouldn’t have even considered before.
Get your travel companions to do the same, and then you can work out a rough schedule for what you’re going to do. We’re not saying that you’re going to have to follow this to the letter, but it gives you a good idea of what everyone wants to do while you’re there. In some cases, certain events will only be running on certain days, and you have to go while they’re on, so make time in your trip to do this. If you don’t, then you could end up missing out on an awesome experience, which we know you don’t want.
Other times you can just be free to explore the new place that you’re visiting. You can head off on your own, or go with your friends/family members, but make sure to go where the wind takes you. You don’t want to head home without having been exploring around somewhere you might never get the chance to visit again.
We hope that you have found this article helpful, and now see some of the things that you can do to plan your travel-ready for when lockdown ends. Good luck, and have fun when you get to go!
