Sri Lanka

Officially called the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. It is located in the Indian Ocean to the southwest of the Bay of Bengal and to the southeast of the Arabian Sea. First human settlements dated from 125,000 years ago. In the past it was under British colonial rule, under the name of Ceylon. Good to know is that Sri Lanka is one of the 25 biodiversity hotspots in the world.
